We are looking for an experienced Developer Productivity Consultant to partner with our Product and Technology leadership teams to define and implement systems, processes, and tools that enhance developer effectiveness and output.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Productivity Audit & Data Analysis:
o Analyze historical productivity data from tools like JIRA and ClickUp (last 6 months).
o Study sprint velocities, cycle times, reopens, bug-to-feature ratios, and other metrics.
o Interview engineering managers and team leads to gather qualitative insights.
2. Benchmarking & Diagnostics:
o Identify bottlenecks, inefficiencies, and non-value-adding processes in current workflows.
o Benchmark productivity against industry norms and similar product orgs.
3. Recommendations & Roadmap:
o Recommend tools, practices, and process changes to drive measurable improvement.
o Suggest strategies around backlog hygiene, sprint planning discipline, task granularity, and WIP limits.
o Design clear dashboards and productivity KPIs for ongoing monitoring.
4. Implementation & Coaching:
o Partner with Engineering and Project Managers to implement agreed changes.
o Provide training and workshops (if needed) on productivity tools, agile hygiene, and reporting practices.
o Support change management with practical templates and documentation.
Ideal Experience & Skills:
· Proven experience (5+ years) in driving developer productivity, agile process improvement, or engineering effectiveness—preferably in product-based companies.
· Strong hands-on expertise with JIRA and ClickUp, especially in configuration, reporting, and automation.
· Understanding of agile/lean principles, metrics (e.g., DORA, cycle time), and development workflows in multi-product environments.
· Analytical mindset with ability to draw insights from tools and data (JIRA logs, burndown charts, team reports, etc.)
· Excellent communication skills to work across engineering, product, and leadership teams.
· Prior experience as a Scrum Master, Agile Coach, Delivery Manager, or Developer Productivity Engineer is a plus.
Deliverables Expected:
· Initial Diagnostic Report with findings from historical data
· Monthly Progress Report including implemented changes and early outcomes
· Final Recommendations with Sustainable Practices and Productivity Dashboards
· Optional: Documentation/Playbook for ongoing internal ownership
